The First Widescreen Mobile Phone From Sony Ericsson
Sony Ericsson is a big company that tries to prove itself in market between other mobiles and electronics companies. It tries to improve its gadgets and offer the best qualities and features. Now, it offers the first widescreen mobile phone from Sony Ericsson.
The new Sony Ericsson Aino is a remarkable multimedia-centric smartphone from the company that started the genre. It's their first widescreen smartphone (at least for the international markets) and delivers functions to make it a multimedia computer in your palm. The Aino strikes one as an intriguing concept from a functional design perspective. It is part touchscreen and part slider with all the leading-edge features you've come to expect from a high end phone. Sony put in some innovative and glorious multimedia and connectivity features you won't find elsewhere.
The Aino at a glance
• This is basically a quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS 850/900/2100, GPRS/EDGE class 10, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA, 2 Mbps
• The form factor it uses is called a Touchscreen slider
• It sports a 3-inch TFT LCD screen that supports24-bit color depth on a WQVGA resolution (432 x 240 pixels, that's larger than a QVGA)
• It carries an ample55MB integrated memory that can expand to 16 GB using a its hot-swappable microSD card slot
• User interface is a Proprietary Flash Based OS
• It comes with an 8.1 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, touch focus, geo-tagging, face detection, smile detection, image stabilizer, smart contrast
• Video recording comes with VGA resolution at film-quality 30 frames per second - one of the few mobile handsets that do
• Local high speed connectivity is supported by Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, GPS receiver with A-GPS support
• There's a built-in accelerometer sensor for screen orientation auto rotate.
• Stereo FM radio with RDS,
• Remote play for Playstation 3
• Nothing remarkable, just a 1000 mAh battery.
Touch it or Not
This peculiar Aino design invites both praise and criticism. While mobile phones typical opt for either touchscreen all the way or not, you have the Aino that's a mix. For its multimedia functions, you get some functionality activated on the screen, making it a full touchscreen phone. For the rest of the functions, you need to work on the alphanumeric keys on its slider. A bit confusing but it can easily grow on you. This is not the first from Sony Ericsson. Remember the P990?
Remote Play
Now this is one feature that distinguished the Aino above the rest. Rather than putting this feature on an enhanced PSP, Sony has it on the Aino, making it the first mobile entertainment gadget to sport one. With it, you can seamlessly control your PS3 device. You do this over the internet and with its fast HSDPA/HSUIPA data connectivity, this becomes a breeze so you can enjoy streamed audio and video files from you PS3 anywhere on earth.
It’s a very great one that is good for old people or those who have problem with their eyesight. Also, it is good to browse the internet and see a lot of website from its touchscreen.
The Advantages of PC Desktops
These days, computers have been very in demand and are being used in our daily transactions. May it be for work, student research or even purchasing, a computer has been a very helpful tool for us to utilize. And with every development, computers offer more benefits for us as time passes by. A lot of us ask him/herself which one is better laptop or desktop? Many would choose laptops because of their portability while working the same way as desktops. However, getting a desktop computer has numerous benefits.
First of all, PC desktops can be more reliable than laptops. This is for the reason that desktops are being developed for a long time in the market. At the same time, the parts are big compared to laptops. Just imagine putting all the parts inside a system tower to compact laptops. Due to very minimal space, laptops are more prone to system crashes.
Next, PC desktops will not put a limit to the amount of work that you can do on them. If you need to work overnight, you may not be able to put your laptops on that kind of abuse as they can overheat and make the system crash again. You might just find yourself having your laptop fixed for doing overnight projects.
Using additional hardware on PC desktops is also not going to be a problem as they are capable enough of synchronizing all the information to its central processing unit, hard drive, and memory. You can also plug additional hardware to your laptop but just imagine your laptop working to synchronize a scanner, fax machine, printer, external monitor and others. It might wear out easily by having these attached to your system.
The next advantage is that since a desktop has many slots, you can add more upgrades and parts to it. For example, you can have two hard drives working as one using RAID configuration and controller. You can also add high end video cards and sound cards for enhanced gaming graphics output. You can even upgrade its memory by filling in all the memory slots for better performance. Upgrade is not going to be a problem with a desktop computer.
Lastly, you can customize your computer by using a different system tower on it. You can use a black tower or those that have colorful LED lights on it. This will definitely make your desktop look customized and will fit your personality.
There are some of the advantages of using PC desktop and there are other more. As we have read in the article, desktop is better for your health, it will allow you to upgrade it when you need to and more reliable system that will last with you many long years.
How to Send Free Text Messages Online?
If you have friends or one of your family in other countries and you wish to contact with them and know their news by text message. There is a way to send text messages online to other countries and also in your country and it’s free. Many websites offer free text messaging services as part of promoting their products for trade. It is an effective marketing strategy that lures online users to their website to browse their advertisements.
Here are the reliable sites you can use in sending free SMS or text messages to other people's mobiles:
Google send to Phone
Google is one of the most prominent names in the internet. It is basically a search engine, and then later on expanded to giving free web email services. Now it also features free text messaging. Their texting program is very simple, reliable, and easy to use. But you still need to install an extension meant for Firefox and IE in order to directly send messages from your own browser.
The user fills in appropriately the blanks provided in the page. You input the ten digit number of the recipient, the carrier name (there will be a given selection) and your message and subject title. Placing a subject is optional. You can also choose to save the information after sending by ticking the appropriate box.
txt2day.com
This site is very easy to use just like Google. You only need to key-in the 10-digit number, your e-mail address (but this is optional), select a provider and write down your text message before you hit the "send" button. You could also opt to block certain numbers such that you will not be bothered with any of their messages if you wish.
The site is very friendly to beginners. It has guides and text helps to assist those having a hard time navigating the page. If you do not know the wireless provider of the person you are sending a message to, you can look for the provider via the mobile phone number. The other great thing, as mentioned earlier, is that you can easily block the number of people who are spamming you.
SMS Everywhere
SMS Everywhere is probably the simplest to use among all the online free text messaging services providers. You will only fill out the box for the number and the box for your message and hit the "send" button. As compared to the other two, you do not need to know or verify the provider. The system will do it for you. It sits very well with the non technical persons.
Yahoo Messenger's Send and SMS
Yahoo is the biggest competitor of Google. It is dedicated to giving ultimate satisfaction to online users with their many services online. They have a search engine, web based email, instant messaging for real time chat, online news, games and so much more.
Yahoo takes it a notch higher by offering free text messaging also. And it does it with style. It integrates this service to emails and chats also. You can send text messages to any of your contacts in yahoo messenger if their phone numbers are listed. Also, if you are offline in chat, you could log in to your mobile, such that when an online user sends you a message, it will be sent to your mobile inbox.
And like the rest of the free text messaging services, yahoo's text program is also user-friendly.
Text'em
As compared to other sites, this site does not possess any clear advantage with the various other services. It also needs more steps, such as the provider, e-mail address, carrier, and message and security code, respectively. Although it is a bit time consuming, it actually works.
Hence, most of the sites noted here only works in the US. This means, you can only send messages to US mobiles. Sending the text message is actually free. However, depending on the plan, your receiver may be charged for the messages he or she will receive. You can contact with anyone now freely and it will not cost you money. Also, it’s fast and convenient.

Common Mistakes Beginners Make with the Keyboard
If you are new with the computer world and you want to learn typing on the keyboard so fast, but you are frustrated because you do the same mistake every time. So, what you have to do?
There is nothing wrong with making mistakes when learning the keyboard. In fact, mistakes will come in abundance and there is no way you can totally avoid them. What will contribute significantly to your eventual success is how you learn from the mistakes along the way and this article will point out some of the more common ones that beginners make.
1. Passive Learning
Many beginners progress too slowly for their own liking because they adopt a very passive approach to learning. Controversially, passive learning can actually stem from the decision of learning the keyboard through group classes or private instructors. Personally, I am not a big fan of learning the keyboard by going to the music schools, as progress are often restricted by the number of hours spent in classes. Comparatively, getting a home study course with all the materials readily available means you will be able to learn whenever you want to, instead of having to wait on your next keyboard lesson.
2. Selective Learning
Another big problem that hinders the progress of beginners is because they chose to learn selectively. Some of them are interested to play jazz piano eventually, so they head straight for the path without understanding that all great jazz keyboardists have actually gone through the keyboard basics. Similarly, many aspiring songwriters try to go the play by ear path without realizing that they need to first understand chords and notes. When starting out, it is important to follow the right path of learning before anything else. As you get better with the keyboard, there will come a point of time when you are in a position to choose a different path, but never do things in reverse.
3. Giving Up Easily
Shockingly, many people start learning the keyboard totally unprepared of the difficulties along the way. Nobody goes through a completely smooth sailing process when learning the keyboard because problems are bound to happen. What makes the difference is how to learn to solve problems and use that experience to improve our keyboard playing skills. Many people do not seem to realize this and tend to give up when they hit a few walls when learning the keyboard.
We learn how to play the keyboard through mistakes made by ourselves or from other people's experiences. Therefore, it is very important for beginners to have the right guidance in the initial period because it can be extremely disheartening when problems appear unsolvable. Start learning by becoming more interactive and adventurous, and make sure that you have the right resources around you when learning the keyboard to avoid wasting time on repeated mistakes.
You have to calm down and learn the keyboard typing step by step. Also, try to know your point of weakness and work on it. If you make the same mistake every time, try to avoid it the next time and so on. Don’t disappointment, it will be hard at the first time and will be easy with practice.
Steps to Type Special Characters and Symbols Using Keyboard Shortcuts
People who know very well for the computer and know the secrets for the keyboard buttons, they know how to deal with its buttons and do a lot of beautiful icons and smiles. Computer users and Web site designers or bloggers struggling to remember how to type necessary symbols, accent marks and other special characters often consider the "hunt" an unwanted distraction from the project they're working on. But it's a problem that is usually easily remedied.
By using two or three computer keys in combination with one another, or by typing in a few characters, computer users can easily execute accent marks as well as symbols and other special characters. Currency symbols, mathematics symbols and punctuation not found on the keyboard are often tied to special "keyboard shortcuts."
Keyboard shortcuts exist for both common symbols and for marks and characters that are used less often. There's no need to waste time and energy with pull-down menus and trial-and-error, when guides exist to direct computer users to keyboard shortcuts.
Sometimes, the shortcut commands are different when you're typing into a word processing document as opposed to something for the Internet. The commands may vary based on the operating system you are using as well (i.e.: Windows vs. Mac). Other combinations of keys generate the desired symbol in html, for the Web.
Symbols commonly used in mathematics, such as fractions and the square root sign, are easily executed using keyboard shortcuts. For example, the pi symbol will appear in your Windows document if you hold down the ALT key and type 0227 on the keypad. On a Mac, get pi to appear by simply holding down the Option key and pressing P. Finally, if you're working in html, the keyboard shortcut for pi is ? or ?.
The process is similar for currency marks such as the British pound: Hold down the ALT key and type 0163; use Option 3; or type £ or £, depending what you're doing.
Accent marks and related characters are often employed when the writer is composing text in a non-English language. For example, one combination of keys can execute the tilde often used in Spanish, while other shortcuts instantly bring up grave or acute accents, a circumflex or umlaut over vowels.
Other common symbols, marks, characters and punctuation that have keyboard shortcuts include: copyright and trademark symbols, bullets, em-dashes and en-dashes and paragraph symbols.
Memorizing the shortcuts for the symbols and characters you use most, or keeping a Web-based guide on the ready, can save time and frustration so computer users can get back to the task at hand.
Now, you also know how to make small icons and symbol not only the experts of the computer and keyboard. It’s very easy to do it.
A Presentation Remote Control
If you deliver electronic presentations using PowerPoint or other programs, you can manually move forward to the next slide with the keyboard or the mouse, but it will disturb you every time and cut your connection with your audience. One way, however, to deliver more effective presentations that improve your connection to your audience is to add a remote control to your presentation tools. What features should you look for when selecting a remote control?
Remote Features
Many projectors come standard with a remote but features vary and may not always be easy to use. A better choice is to buy your own personal presentation remote control. When evaluating a remote, look for these features and decide what is important to you:
• Ergonomic and easily fits in your hand. Keep in mind that you might be using the remote for an hour or an entire day. Plus, a smaller remote will usually have fewer and more accessible buttons, fits in your pocket, and is great for travel.
• Simple to use. In most cases, a smaller, ergonomic remote is easy to use but test it before buying. One of my friends loves her small remote which is only about the size of a matchbook. The tradeoff is she needs to press 2 buttons together to make the screen go black, a feature that does not always work. I was reminded of the importance of an easy to use remote recently when I watched an excellent presenter pull out a huge remote that looked a price scanner gun from Home Depot. As he fumbled with a large panel of buttons, the remote dropped to the floor and broke open with batteries flying across the stage.
• Transmit distance. Remotes operate with three different technologies: RF (wireless radio frequency), IR (infrared), and Bluetooth. A huge drawback with IR remotes is that you need to point the mouse directly at the receiver for it to work. Bluetooth remotes use the latest technology but currently have a maximum range of about 30' while many RF remotes have a range of 50 to 100 feet. With some remotes, you can have your back to the laptop and move to the middle of an audience. What do you need for your presentations?
• Built-in mouse. Some presenters will sacrifice a bit in size to get a built-in mouse, usually a small button like you see on some laptops. The Logitech Cordless Presenter, for example, combines a full-size mouse and remote with a 30' range and is priced under $200. Other remotes have a track ball or a touch pad. I prefer a separate wireless mouse that I use for portions of my presentations. I find a built-in mouse to be too awkward but it might be great for your purposes.
• Visible laser pointer. If you would like a built-in laser pointer, make sure to test it for visibility and practice moving it slowly. Some of the pointers have such a small laser dot that it does not show well on screen. Would an animation be a better way to highlight parts of a slide or a process?
When evaluating features, it is still not that common to find a wide range of remotes at your local computer store or office supply outlet, and so, your best option is to find someone who has a remote and try it out. My favorite is the RemotePoint Navigator from Interlink Electronics which is easy to use, fits comfortably in my hand, and gives me up to 50' of movement from my laptop. Another top model by the same company is the RemotePoint Presenter, with up to 100' of movement, a mouse button, and 32 MB of storage for your presentation; it is priced at about $150. The Phaser Mouse from IOGear is a budget-minded model for as little as $60.
There are many other models and brands to consider. Personally, I do not like remotes loaded with tons of features that you might not need; these remotes are typically bigger or more complicated to use. Remember, you should be using a remote so that you do not call attention to the technology and your audience can focus on your content.
Practicing with a Remote Control
After you buy a remote, practice with it before you use it. Do not just try it at your desk, you need to also setup your laptop and remote and actually run through your presentation. The first time I did this, the screen kept going black or I would accidentally advance to the next slide. The problem wasn't with the remote. The problem was that I was holding my presentation handout in the same hand and accidentally hitting a remote button through the handout. An easy adjustment but not obvious if my only rehearsal was in my office. I personally like to choreograph my slide actions into my presentation notes to avoiding looking back at the projection screen to check my location. Or, setup your laptop in the meeting room so you can glance at the screen and still keep the connection with your audience.
Practicing with your remote should be a built-in part of your presentation rehearsal to avoid distracting your audience and accomplishing the goal of communicating your message.
Bonus Tips: Always bring extra batteries; many speakers change out batteries for every presentation. To protect your investment, label the remote or put several business cards in the carrying case in the event that your remote is misplaced.
The advantages of a presentation remote control are ergonomic and easily fits in your hand, simple to use, transmit distance, built-in mouse and visible laser pointer. Also, it gives you the mobility to move freely and make a good eye contact with your audience with make you presentation more effective and interesting.
How to Connect a TV to a Computer?
If you have a presentation or want to watch a film from your computer, but your computer screen is small and will not present it clearly. Have you ever asked yourself if it’s possible to connect your TV to the computer and how? Here, you will find the answer in the following article.
Nearly all modern TVs (Plasma, LCD or TFT) maybe connected to your Computers (Laptops, Laptop computers or PC). This can be done almost immediately with a range of cables or connections like VGA, RGB, DVI, HDMI, S-video or RCA straight out of the box. The most common of these connections is the VGA it is probably the easiest way to connect a TV to a computer. VGA has been used to connect monitors or screens to the Central Processing Unit (CPU) of computers for many years now. If you have a Laptop it will be the cable used to connect an external monitor.
There are other ways to ask the same question when connecting Computers and TVs so if you have thought of any of the following:
• How to connect your TV to your Computer?
• How to connect TV to computer?
• How to connect a TV to a computer?
• How to connect your computer to your TV?
• Is there any way of connecting TV to computer?
• How to hook up computer to TV?
Then continue reading.
If you do not posses any of the connectors mentioned so far you can buy them from any Electrical or Computer shop. With any of the cables connections you will be able to easily bridge the gap between your Laptop/Computer and TV. If your Television (TV) is not equipped with either VGA or DVI then the process will not be as straight forward but it still should not be too difficult to connect a TV to a computer. You could consider using RCA or S-video as a way to hook up computer to TV. All is not lost, so do not get down heartened if your TV does not have any of these connections. All that is needed is a VGA to TV converter which will give you either an S-video or RCA to connect to so you will be up and running in no time. Yet another way of connecting your computer to your TV is with HDMI. The only drawback is your TV must be HDMI compatible; this should not be problem as it is becoming more common these days. So to connect a TV to a computer will be as easy as pie.
Once you have all the required connections it may be necessary to set your TVs to accept the output signal from your Laptop/Computer. You will find the instructions to achieve this within the menu of your TV, if it cannot be found then consult your TV manual for instructions. If all the connections are firmly in place and the TV is setup correctly to receive the computers signal you should see your computer screen on your TV.
If you would like to make this connection as seamless as possible you could purchase a switch to change from Computer monitor to TV screen without disconnecting any of the connections. I must stress that this is not essential so you do not have to buy one. If you feel it is needed it is available at most Computer or Electrical stores.
For those of you who are a little more adventurous you could go a little step further and tap into the audio of your Computer/Laptop. Again to accomplish this Computer connection to TV audio you might have all the connections you need. This can be done with a Mini Stereo plug/jack to a Phono lead (RCA composite audio). The Mini Stereo plug goes into the audio output normally at the back of your Computer or into the audio output of your Laptop. The Phono ends goes into the audio input of your TV. This would mean there is no connection output to your Computer or Laptop speakers to get audio output to both the Computer/Laptop speakers and your TV your need a mini plug splitter, which is self explanatory to install. You will now have both Audio and Video signals from your Computer/Laptop and your TV.
That was the basics of how to connect your TV to your Computer. To go further still you can reconfigure and or purchase more equipment to enhance your Home Entertainment System.
You have had a good start so never will you ask yourself any of the following questions again.
• How to connect your TV to your Computer?
• How to connect TV to computer?
• How to connect your computer to your TV?
• Is there any way of connecting TV to computer?
• How to hook up computer to TV?
• How do you connect your computer to your TV?
I think you know now it’s possible to connect your TV to a computer with those cables and watch whatever you want with family, friends, and spouse. Also, you know the way and it is very easy.
A TV Outdoors near a Pool or Spa
What you have to do when you want to relax in your house pool or go to the spa but you don’t want to miss you favorite movie, show, or series? Nowadays, it has become more popular to put a standard TV outdoors, either in our garden, or by our pool or hot tub. However there are some few things that you should think about them and keep them in your mind before you embark on installing a TV outdoors.
TV outdoors all the time?
If the TV is going to be removed indoors when ever threatening weather approaches, the following information will not apply to you, however if you want a solution that once installed looks after itself, read on.
You have to consider if the display is going to be outdoors all weathers and all the time. If this is the case, the need for protection is essential from the weather and potential theft. Now let us take the weather issue, this will depend upon the area you live in and you will know better than anyone the average weather conditions for example if you need to protect the electronics from snow, rain or extreme heat.
If for example you need to cover a temperature range from -20 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, you need an LCD or plasma TV enclosure that has the facility to heat the inside of the case to prevent the electronics failing. On the other hand if you are in an area with extreme heat, you may need to cool the inside of the TV case, in some instances LCD enclosures have been installed in areas that reach 150 degrees Fahrenheit, providing adequate protection for the electronics inside the case.
Now there are 2 type of enclosure for televisions, the large steel units that can even withstand being shot with a .22 bullet or a lower cost high impact acrylic enclosure, these are lighter however they do offer excellent protection from the weather as well as offering some protection from the opportunist thief.
Normally, people mount the TV case direct to a wall near their hot tub or pool, however there are pedestal stands that bolt to the floor and the TV case bolts to the back of the stand, this however does take up valuable foot space, the other option is to mount the TV and case from a ceiling mount, however you are best looking for a heavy duty mounting arm as the total weight for a TV in a protective case is in the region of 150lbs.
Getting the video to the TV:
The easiest way to get high quality video to any LCD or plasma television is to connect the cable signal receiver to a VGA Extender, this enables high quality video to be broadcast up to 100 meters or 360 feet from one source to the screen, these units supports resolutions up to 1080p but it does depend upon the length of cable.
These VDS units allow you to leave your cable box in your home, in a secure environment whilst you can take advantage of the technology and watch your favorite game or program whist in the pool.
These are available at any local electronics outlet and eliminate the demand to protect a cable receiver outdoors.
Cables for connecting the VGA Extender to the TV:
Now you have the TV outdoors mounted in a protective case with the cable receiver in your home, now you need to use some high quality UTP cable, UTP is Unshielded Twisted Pair cable or Category 5 cable commonly used in computer networks.
These are normally available in 300 meters drums, however if you go over the 100 meters from source to TV, the quality of the video will be effected; you can try it but don't push it!
Go for quality cable and this will pay off, do not think it is a trade off and buy a low quality cable and then go over the 100 meters distance, personally I would go for a mid range priced cable and try to locate the TV no more than 75 meters or 220 feet that way you should have the best image possible on your television.
Dave is an expert in manufacturing outdoor LCD enclosures, he also owns the World's leading manufacturer of waterproof LCD & plasma TV enclosures. Their standard range of LCD enclosure can be seen on their website as supplied to the top digital signage integrators throughout the world.
Now, enjoy watching your favorite program while you swim or relax in the spa with TV outdoors. But you have been aware of those three considerations and think carefully about them before deciding to put your TV outdoors in the garden.

Steps to Clean Spilled Coffee From Your
What will you do if a hot cup of coffee spilled on your new laptop? What are the steps that you should follow in order to clean it from the coffee? Did that happen for you and you didn’t know how to clean it? Assuming that after the spill you don't see smoke, or hear the laptops death cries, the first things to do immediately after the spill that may help you avoid a costly computer fix is:
1. Power off the laptop - try not to move it yet.
2. Soak up the remaining liquid.
3. Unplug all devices from the laptop.
4. Remove the battery from the laptop without tilting the laptop if possible.
If water is what was spilled, then you may be able to simply allow the laptop to sit under a fan for a day, if you're the patient type. If a sticky beverage like coffee and soda is to blame then you will most likely have to open up the case and clean inside.
Removing the laptop case can be a bit tougher than you may realize so make sure to get directions from the manufacturers’ website and take notes or pictures as you progress along with disassembly and reassembly.
Be sure to remove components from inside the case and inspect them as necessary; hard drive, RAM, CD/DVD drive, keyboard. The keyboard is notorious for not being the same after something is spilled on it. It may be unrepairable but it's generally the least costly part to replace. You should only clean electronic equipment with denatured alcohol which can be purchased for about $5 a liter. Allow all parts to dry before reassembly. Good luck and back up your data next time!
If you spilled a coffee or any beverage on your laptop, don’t worry because you know now how to clean and make it works again. You don’t have to think it will not work and you have to repair it in its shop. You can do it, clean it and you will enjoy working on it again.
Attaching an External Monitor to Your Laptop Computer
In many occasion, we find that it’s necessary to attach an external monitor to a laptop computer to present something through it as students’ presentation on school, a movie or play. The most common reason for attaching an external computer monitor is to have a larger output source for a presentation. Another common use of an external laptop computer monitor is to use the monitor when the laptop's LCD is not functioning properly.
Attaching an external monitor to your laptop computer is actually a very simple task that doesn't require much technical knowledge. Most laptop computers support a VGA port. This port is identical to the VGA port on a standard desktop computer. You simply plug the external monitor into the VGA outlet like you would if you were attaching it to a desktop model. That's really it.
There are, however, a few differences that you should be aware of. One difference is that a laptop computer does not always have a video signal which automates the starting of the monitor. Often times, you must use special software or keyboard commands to start the monitor.
Unlike your laptop computer monitor, the external monitor will most likely need to be plugged into an electrical outlet before it will function. Some laptops will support the running of the monitor from the battery source, but it will quickly drain the computer batteries.
Once you have attached your external monitor to your laptop computer, you will need to configure the screen. Most users’ manuals will provide step by step instructions on how to do this. It usually only requires a keyboard command which should be outlined in the manual.
After you have instructed the computer about the external monitor, you will need to instruct Windows on how the second laptop computer monitor will be used. You will designate one monitor as the primary monitor and the second monitor as the back up monitor. To do this, follow these simple steps:
1. Go to your Control Panel.
2. Double-click on the “Display" icon. This will show you the dialog box for the Display Properties.
3. Go to Settings.
4. Go to the numerical icon to designate the primary monitor.
5. Go to the open box and select “Use This Device as the Primary Monitor" by placing a check mark in the box. If the box is checked for the wrong monitor by default make sure that you clear out that box.
Now, we know the use of the external monitor to your laptop and what it offers for us. Also you know how to attach them to your laptop computer without the need to use the projector or any other thing that give you a good view.
Add Wireless to Your Old Laptop
Almost all new laptops already come complete with a wireless transmitter and receiver built into the motherboard, or installed in a special port in the casing. But if you an old laptop and you wish to add a wireless to it, what do you have to do? Read the following article to find the answer.
If you wish to add wireless to an old laptop, you can quickly and easily upgrade without having to splash out on a brand new machine.
1. Step 1
Check your laptop manual or visit a computer store or web site to find out if your laptop has a compartment for a wireless card. The good news is that this compartment offers you a really easy solution to installing wireless. However, the bad news is that the wireless card is nearly always a ‘proprietary part’ which means that you will have to buy the card from the same company who manufactured your laptop, and pay whatever price they charge for the card. Some manufacturers discourage people installing these cards themselves, and so you may have to end up paying for an engineer to install the card for you.
2. Step 2
Another way to add wireless to an old laptop is by purchasing a plug and play wireless transceiver PC Card. The main problem with this is that your laptop may only have one or two PC Card slots, so obviously you would be limited to how many other cards you could have installed. To overcome this, some companies combine a wireless transceiver with a network interface card (NIC) which gives your laptop access to connect to either a wireless network or a wired Ethernet in one unit. Something else to bear in mind is that the card will probably have a small antenna that protrudes from the side of your laptop. It's a good idea to remove the card before you put your laptop away after each use to ensure that the antenna does not get damaged during transit or storage.
3. Step 3
A second plug and play solution is to use a USB wireless adapter, which simply plugs into one of the spare USB ports on your laptop. As with PC Cards, they are available from a wide variety of computer and IT stores, which helps to keep competition healthy, and prices relatively low. A USB wireless adapter will also stick out from the side of the computer as well, but is a much more robust solution. Unlike the PC Card antenna, the USB unit will be able to stand the majority of knocks it receives, however it is still advisable that you get into the habit of removing the unit when shutting down your computer after each use.
Conclusion
As you can see it is incredibly easy to turn your old laptop into a wireless laptop. It is also a much cheaper option when compared to the cost of buying a brand new laptop. By adding wireless to an old laptop, not only are you saving yourself money, but you are saving yourself the time of having to back up and transfer all your files and programs to a new machine. Also, those tips are very easy and will allow you work on you old laptop and surfing internet quickly and do a lot of things as if it’s a new laptop.
The Proper Size for the Laptop Screen
One of the most important things that you look for it when you buy a new laptop is the screen of your laptop. In your opinion, what is the proper laptop screen size for you? Are you sick of viewing everything on that small screen that your current notebook comes with? Do you want your next laptop to have screen size that you are more comfortable with? Well read on.
In this article, we will take a look at all the common screen sizes found on the many various laptops currently in existence, as well as which ones may be best for you and why.
Does your current notebook feel like it is five inches too small? Well it actually may be – Here are the most common laptop display sizes (in inches):
10.4 -- 10.6 -- 11.3 -- 12.1 -- 13.0 -- 13.3 -- 14.1 -- 15.0 -- 15.2 -- 15.4 -- 15.7 -- 16.0 -- 16.1 –- 17.1
You may be wondering exactly how a screens size is determined. This is done by measuring diagonally across the screen. Many people think it is done by measuring horizontally or vertically –- This is false.
So what should you be looking at for your next laptop when it comes to screen size? I wouldn’t go any lower than 15.0 inches. In fact most people say that going any lower than 15.0 inches is too uncomfortable. Fortunately pretty much every new notebook being produced has a bare minimum of 15 inches for the screen size.
With this in mind, you basically have the choice of 15 inches all the way to 17 inches! What are the differences between the two, other than size? Well, some people say that a 17.1" screen makes the laptop a little too heavy for their liking. If weight is a big issue with you, you may want to go for a smaller screen.
There must be an advantage with the bigger screen then, right? Of course. You get a bigger viewing area, and most likely a better viewing experience. This is an even bigger issue if you play games, watch DVD’s, or are a general multimedia user when it comes to your laptop.
There aren’t a whole lot of notebooks currently being produced with 17" screens, but there are a few like the Toshiba satellite P35 laptop. Simply looking at the specs of any given notebook can quickly tell you whether the screen size will suit you or not.
By taking the time to recognize your needs when it comes to a laptop screen size, you can enjoy your next laptop and leave the hassle with your old one. Choose the screen size according to your need and what is comfortable for your eyes. Also, if you spend a long to time working on the laptop, you should choose what is the convenient for you.

If you have kids and you want to buy a computer for them, what do you think it’s better for them, laptop or desktop? Actually, many people, adults and children, are opting for a laptop as the primary computer. Now that they have larger screens and wireless Internet connectivity, the mobility of a laptop is super convenient, even if you only move from one room of the house to another. But is it right for your child? What is the right type of computer for children? Check by yourself through the article.
The first consideration is your child is physical dexterity. Laptops are built to withstand some bumps, but if a child is constantly leaving it on the floor or bed or knocks it off tables forgetfully, a laptop is not a good idea.
Laptop Pros
* If your child is able to use the computer at school, then a laptop might be a nice choice.
* Takes up little space, so if you are short of space in the house, it's a good choice
* If not Internet connection at home, can take laptop other places to gain access
* can work anywhere
Laptop Cons
* May need to take extra measures to monitor your child's computer activities (limit computer use to certain rooms or times, limit where computer can go, install monitoring software).
* Can be dropped and damaged
* If not connected to a power source, laptop usefulness is limited to the battery life (typically 2 to 4 hours). The larger the monitor, the shorter the battery life, however, you can buy extra batteries.
Desktop Pros
* Almost always more computing power as a laptop of same cost
* Easier to monitor child's computer activity
* Can use a bigger monitor easily
Desktop Cons
* Need to have space to set up computer
* Need to set up near Internet modem or expanding cabling or install a wireless card

After reading that article, you can decide what the best is for your kids. Keep in your mind those considerations and what will make

Who ever heard of the iPod being repaired? The truth that it might at some point in time need repairs is another matter altogether, but who would have thought that your iPod could even be repaired.
Well, the simplest answer to that one would have to be the Apple shop. They are the makers of the iPod and as a result it stands to reason that they will also have the necessary skills to conduct the iPod repair.
This is all well and fine if you're still within the warranty period, but what happens if your warranty has run out? You can still go to the Apple shop to carry your iPod repair, but you might find yourself facing a hefty bill for having this done.

The other thing that you can do is to try the iPod repair yourself. This really isn't as stupid as it sounds. A great many people have done this and come out the clear winner.
Of necessity, you might only like to try this out if you have an older version iPod and losing it wouldn't make a great deal of difference to yo anyway., Otherwise, you could end up with a mangled iPod and few pieces leftover for you put back together!

Buying a Used Laptop or a Refurbished Laptop
You think to buy a new laptop but it will break your budget. Perhaps, you have not considered a used laptop as an option. A used laptop will afford you the opportunity to own a notebook computer at a price that will not put a huge dent in your wallet. Often you can purchase a gently used name brand laptop at a fraction of the retail cost.
There are many avenues to consider if you are thinking about purchasing a used laptop. You may decide to check your local ads, purchase one off lease, or purchase a refurbished computer. There is no right or wrong answer when deciding which method is best for your purchase; it is really up to you.
However, you may be more comfortable purchasing your used laptop off lease or buying a refurbished one. While there is nothing wrong with finding your laptop through the local newspaper ads, buying one off lease or refurbished may offer you a little more protection.
Whereas you have to deal with an unknown individual if you purchase through a newspaper ad, buying a leased or refurbished used laptop offers a bit more security, as most times you are dealing directly with a company; and it is much easier, most times, to solve potential problems with your purchase when you are dealing with a company.
One company that has a great reputation of offering used laptops is Compaq. You can often purchase a virtually new, used laptop from Compaq for hundreds less than you would spend on a new laptop computer. These used laptops are sold as “refurbished”, which can mean something as minor as a scratch on the cover.
There is no need to be hesitant if you are considering purchasing a used laptop. In most cases, you will find that your laptop will perform just as well as a brand-new computer. And if your used laptop is refurbished, there is a strict set of guidelines that companies must follow when reselling these computers to the general public.
Almost all companies that sell used laptops work extra hard to ensure that their product will perform for the consumer for a long time to come. You should also be sure to check into warranty information for the used laptop that you are considering purchasing. If you take a little care, you should have no problem finding a used laptop that suits your needs.
Brenda has used many laptops, and has a nice list of used laptops and refurbished laptops and information on how to get free laptops.
Used laptop or a refurbished laptop is not very bad. There are many advantages of buying a used laptop such as having a good of the laptop and saving your money at the same time. You can put a used laptop or refurbished laptop as an option and see what will fit with you.

Check If your IPod Has A Virus
Surly, when you download a song, video or a gem to you iPod, some viruses come to your iPod. After September 2006 a number of apple iPods had been shipped with a windows virus. Luckily for most mp3 and iPod users only a very small number are actually infected and this virus which only affects windows computers is called the RavMonE.exe virus. So, how do you check or remove this iPod virus?
Firstly if you have your iPod attached to your PC and have the latest antivirus software installed this should automatically detect and clean your pc/iPod of any virus present including the ravmone.exe virus. The iPod nano, shuffle and Mac OS are not affected and the latest iPod videos are also guaranteed to be virus free.
First steps to check if your pc or iPod is infected is to download a virus scanner (if you do not have one already installed), there are many free virus scanners available and most new PCs already have these automatically installed. In 99% of cases your iPod will be virus free but it is still best to check. Simply attach your iPod to your PC and run the virus scan.
Your antivirus software will then perform the checks and inform you of any viruses that are resident on your pc/iPod. After the removal of any viruses you should use the very latest version of iTunes to reinstall the software on your iPod. The ravmone.exe virus is attracted to storage devices and you should also scan all storage devices on your PC just to be sure.
With antivirus, you can download whatever you want and protect your iPod from virus and other annoying things at the same time. Do not worry of those viruses because they will not find a way to your iPod.

External Batteries of the Laptop
Sometimes, we need to work on our laptop for a long time. If you work outside and there is no place to charge your laptop battery which will end nearly. External laptop batteries provide the user with almost seven hours of uninterrupted power. This is a major breakthrough in this field because laptop users had to depend on normal batteries that only worked for two hours. The most important advantage that an external laptop battery offers is that the user does not have to connect his laptop to a power source every couple of hours in order to recharge the conventional battery. Therefore, an external laptop battery is the best solution.
External laptop batteries are very cheap and can be charged by an external battery charger. A laptop user can make a decision about the chemical that is used for manufacturing these batteries such as Nickel Cadmium or NiCd, Nickel metal hydride or NiMH, Lithium ion or Li-ion batteries.
The price of an external battery may vary from $120 to $200 and these batteries are available on the Internet as well as in the regular market. As computers and other related appliances are becoming cheaper, the prices of laptops are also dropping. This means that more and more people are using laptop and for longer periods. These batteries are ideal for those who want an extended power source for their laptops when they are traveling. An external laptop battery connects to a laptop through an AC adapter plug and usually has two output levels. It consists of an adapter, a chord and thirteen other connectors. Another advantage that these batteries provide is that they are universal in nature. This means that an external power battery that is manufactured by a particular company can be used with a laptop of another make and model.
External laptop batteries are revolutionizing the IT world by providing more mobility and extended power for those who want to use the laptop for more than two hours without worrying about power interruptions. It is wonderful and helps you to work as long as you wish.
The Types of Laptop Skins
Everybody is talking about laptop skins and it has become a topic which laptop owners cannot afford to miss this out. It has definitely become a trend for the laptop industry. Also, when you choose a skin for your laptop that will reflects your style and personality.
Some use laptop skins for the purpose of protection and many use it for the purpose of being trendy and fashionable. As a result, many types of laptop skins have been designed over the years, in terms of both graphic and materials.
This article will show you 4 types of laptop skins that are already being used by a lot of people.
Transparent
This is the transparent laptop skin that is used mainly for the purpose of protection. The owner might not be interested in fashionable or trendy laptop skins and his purpose is to protect his laptop from being scratched or UV, then this would be the one for him.
Transparent skins come in many colors as well, not only the transparent and invisible ones. Some can be in red, yellow or blue and they are just transparent.
Plain Colors
Been ready for a laptop skin, but not quite to the fashionable sense yet. Plain colored skins are usually for owners who want their laptop to look slightly different and better but not to the extreme of making it fancy yet.
Unlike transparent skins, the moment the owner uses a plain colored laptop skin, the whole laptop will be revamped into a new color. So it would look something like a silver laptop being transformed into a yellow, pink or violet colored laptop.
Decorated Skins
These are fancier and laptop owners who like decorated skins are usually those who like to be different among the rest. This can be a graphic or decoration designed by a designer or the laptop owner himself.
Decorated skins, when look at it, it might not convey a message or meaning to other spectators but it does mean something to the owner himself. Sometimes, the owner might not even know the meaning of the design and the reason he puts it there is because it is his favorite. It is all about personal preferences.
Themes
This is the most used laptop skins around the world. People are usually influenced by icons, symbols, idols, celebrities, events, activities, sports and the list goes on.
Have you seen people using Manchester United laptop skin? What about Paris Hilton's laptop skin? Have you seen people using ‘The incredible Hulk’ skin for their laptop?
These are the examples for themes laptop skins.
The good thing about this is that, the owner can change the laptop skin from one to another whenever he chooses to. For example, Olympic is coming and once it is over, he might need to prepare himself for the next English Premier League, so does his laptop follow!
With those types of the laptop skins, you can choose what you like and fit to your personality. Also, you can change between them every day and enjoy your eyes. Finally, you will make your laptop look beautiful and amazing.

Drawing scanning Vs drawing paper
Designs - a visual plan for future development. It is most often linked to engineering drawings. It helps engineers to establish its pre-plan something that will be physically available in the future. Generally, it is shown on the huge size of paper. There are some disadvantages of drawings on paper.
• It is not easy to carry anywhere because of the paper size is too big.
• It is not long term. Anyone can ruin your design drawn on paper very easily.
• If you have a color drawing, it becomes dull after a period of time.
• If there is minor error in the drawing, we must take back the waste and lost time.
How to overcome these drawbacks? It is very easy. You can scan the drawings. It helps you fight the problems mentioned above.
• Drawing scanning lets you save the drawing in large format in very little space. You can take it wherever you want. You can mail to your client who lives far from you. This type of fast delivery helps you build corporate image of your company. You can also discuss the plan by video-conference. This type of service helps you expand your customer base.
• With this type of scan, you can save your drawings for long periods of long duration. Chances are very rare for the scan designs damaged. If someone spoiled your drawings you can follow easily by checking the history. You can follow the history of access that helps you to provide more security for your important drawings.
• In some designs, such as topographic maps, color effect makes higher. Color paper drawings get dull over. Through the design of scanning you can handle this problem very easily. You never boring electronic format. So you get the drawings as it was years ago.
• If you have found an error in the drawing, you can easily correct the error. Drawings are scanned electronically modifiable, so you can simply change the design and correct the error. It saves your precious time.
Most design companies provide digitization services for blues, survey plans, topographical maps, mechanical drawings, architectural plans and large format engineering drawings. If you do not want to invest considerable capital into a scanner, simply outsource your scanning needs with good design digitizing company.
Battle of hosting platforms: Windows vs. Linux vs. Mac
With Mac OS X is increasingly used in the server environment, many are now adding wind to the debate on which platform is better for web hosting: Windows, Linux or Mac? Believe it or not, this battle becomes even more difficult to call as each system has been greatly improved over the years. Let's look closer to see what those platforms have to offer.
Factor price
If you want to make your determination on the price, you will probably find that if Linux generally more affordable than Windows and Mac web hosting plans. Indeed, Windows and Mac OS X are the property of Microsoft and Apple, therefore, the high licensing fees are attached. Linux, on the other hand, is an operating system open source can often be obtained free of charge. This single factor plays an important role in the price of a Linux hosting plan compared to most other platforms.
System stability and performance
Stability is something that absolutely must be considered when choosing your hosting platform. Linux is well known in the industry to be as stable as they come, able to maintain a shelter operation under a wide range of difficult situations. The Mac OS X is based on the BSD system, like Linux, which borrows many features of Unix, the ancestor of all. This essentially means that Mac servers also tend to be very stable and suitable for the hosting environment. Windows, on the other hand, has a history of infamous blue screens, freezing and crashing system. While the system has been considerably improved by press release, a Windows server will always have a hard time competing with Linux in the department of stability and performance. Above all, Linux is the operating system that can really help you harness the processing power of the underlying machine.
Simplicity and ease of use
This section applies primarily when running and maintaining your own server. Despite its power, Linux has been known as one of the operating systems more difficult to use. To free up more resources to computer users, Linux uses a command line similar to the old DOS systems, making it a real challenge for those who lack technical expertise. Windows and Mac OS X provides both graphical user interfaces, presenting vivid backgrounds, icons and links to greatly simplify the administration process. Because Windows offers an environment similar to creating desktop adorn many homes, it is probably easiest to use.
Making the right choice
Although Linux is the most experienced, all these operating systems have a story at the bottom of the web hosting companies. Although certainly not as widely available, Mac and accommodation are becoming more popular and the choice is definitely strong in the right scenario. Unless you need your own web server or some technologies, it is not a bad choice that you can get a decent price, Great performance and value equally superb on these platforms.
720p Vs 1080i HDTV
720p vs. 1080i is worthy of concern? Yes and no. If you are a consumer looking for a new TV, you can happily ignore the 720p vs 1080i debate because every TV which is described as HDTV or HDTV Ready is required to support both formats.
NOTE: You must be aware that if a lot of TVs which support 1080i have fewer than 1080 lines and so scale the 1080 signal down. This is not a huge issue because even reduced 1080i is far ahead of a regular NTSC signal. It is good to keep in mind that more expensive HDTVs tend to have better scalers than cheaper, and this may be a problem.
However, for broadcasters, it is a hot topic. Should they broadcast 1080 lines of interlaced video or 720 lines progressive scan? They could just broadcast two signals, one in each format, but would use a huge chunk of bandwidth and be hugely expensive for very little gain.
To answer the question, it is important to understand the difference between 720p vs 1080i. A 720p signal is made up of 720 horizontal lines. Each image is displayed in full-screen for 1/30th of a second. This is known as progressive scan (hence the 'p') The quality is like watching 30 photographic images a second on TV. A 1080i signal comprises 1080 horizontal lines but all lines are not displayed on the screen simultaneously. Instead, they are interlaced (hence the 'i'), ie every other lines is displayed for 1/60th of a second and then the alternate lines are displayed for 1/60th of a second. Thus, the frame rate is still 30 frames per second, but each image is divided into two areas, that is when your brain unconsciously.
Most of the time interlacing works fine, but for fast moving images like sports such as baseball and hockey it can cause problems which manifest themselves in a "stage effect" on the screen. Progressive Scan Signals do not have this problem and are therefore better suited to sports.
ESPN puts it this way: "progressive scan technology produces better images for guidance in fast moving sports television. In simple terms, with 104 fastballs mph in baseball and 120 mph shots on goal in hockey, line by line progressive scan technology better captures the inherent fast action sport. For ESPN, progressive scan technology makes perfect sense.
Bottom line? For us as consumers 720p vs 1080i debate is not just to address it, so you can relax and concentrate on all other criteria for your list when you buy your next HDTV.
Clustering Vs Load Balancing
Before discussing differences between clusters and load balancing, and there are more than one, you should download the definitions right. Clustering is often understood to mean the ability of some software to provide load balancing and load balancing is often used as a synonym of equipment or third party software-based solution.
In practice, clustering is generally used with application servers such as IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic and Oracle AS (10g). Also being used in this environment are load balancing features found in Application Delivery Controllers (ADC), as BIG-IP. (For simplicity, we will speak of reunification versus ADC approaches.)
Scalability, speaking to the horizontal
Some hardware load balancers, of course, but we are talking about swimming pools or farms, clusters of application server in which applications get distributed. In the software world that the cluster term is applied to the same group.
Consolidation will typically convert an instance of an application server to a master controller, and then process / distribute requests to multiple instances of algorithms using industry standards such as round robin, weighted round robin or least connections. Clustering is similar to load balancing because it has horizontal scalability, almost seamlessly to add additional instances of application servers to increase capacity or performance response time. To ensure that the forum is actually available, clustering approaches typically use an ICMP ping check or, sometimes, HTTP or TCP connection checks.
Health and transparency
For load balancing, CAN supports algorithms same area, but have other, complex number crunching process, and test parameters such as server CPU and memory utilization, response times faster, etc. CAN also support stricter monitoring of health than simple App Server clustering solutions. This means they can verify the contents and make a passive surveillance, supply, even with the low impact of health checks at the instance of server app.
For applications that require the user to interact with the same server at a meeting, using affinity clustering server for the user. This is more common during the execution of a process such as order entry, when the session is used between pages (requests) for storing data necessary for the closing of a transaction, such as a basket .
For the same situation, CAN use persistence. Clustering solutions are usually quite limited in the variables they can use, while C can not only use traditional application variables but also obtain other information from the application or data network.
More than a few clustering solutions require node-agents deployed on each instance of an application server that is clustered by a controller. It may not be a burden to the extent of deployment and management, as it often is in place, but it is even more processes running on servers and memory consumption and resources CPU. Of course, it also adds another point of possible failure of the data path. Since C does not need server-side components, they remain completely transparent.
Making the right choice
Some might ask: Why do extra work to build a distributed system software and cluster configuration server when you can have multiple servers performing specific roles such as servers separate databases, Web servers, servers messaging, etc. whenever necessary?
So how do you choose? It depends on why you are considering this type of solution first, and (perhaps) whether or not you have to make an additional purchase to achieve the clustering capabilities for the particular application server that you have. There is also the broader question of whether or not you need (or want) to provide support for branded multiple application server. Clustering, of course, is the proprietary application server, but CAN may provide services to any and all applications or web servers.
Clustering checklist
Strengths:
* Usually the package with enterprise server application
* Does not require the highest level of networking expertise
* Usually less expensive than redundant deployments ADC
Weaknesses:
* High availability not guaranteed with clustering solutions
Best Practices * deploy the cluster controller on separate machines
* Node agents required on the server instances managed app
* Clustering is "owner" (you can only group of homogeneous servers)
ADC checklist
Strengths:
* Provides high availability and load balancing in heterogeneous environments
* The value of optimization applications, security and acceleration
* No changes required to applications or servers where they are deployed
Weaknesses:
* An additional piece of infrastructure in architecture
* Generally more expensive than clustering solutions
* May require new skill set to deploy / manage
Recommendations
Get a better view of performance, configurations and case studies by reading a few articles of tests based on ADC testing and examinations based on clusters of servers. Look for case studies that mirror your own situation as closely as possible, and talk to people who do what you're thinking (or thinking). Contrary to the government to enter the automotive field or taking care of health, do not do something quickly to see him do something. Be careful with this decision.

Why your PC is very slow?
We may feel sometimes that our PC is very slow and takes a long time to open or download something. We wonder why it runs like this although it’s new and the best brand of computers. There are a number of reasons, which are responsible for making your computer slow.
First of all, you should check the registry, which can be considered as the powerhouse of the computer. If the windows registry is damaged or not organized properly your computer may become slow and ultimately ends up freezing. You should clean the registry with a good quality registry regularly to get a better result and speed up your computer.
Some possible causes, which can be responsible for a PC slow down, have been discussed here:
Fragmentation of Hard disk – Disk fragmentation is necessary because while installing or deleting files from the hard drive windows does not always put them back to their place in order to save speed or just because the file value moves up and down. If you do not know what the value is then we must tell you that the value is set depending on the number of times you use a program. If you use a particular program which is important for you more than once the windows will move the program at the top of the hard disk so that the hard disk can load the program faster than the rest such as the beginning of the drive is much faster than the end.
You should defragment the hard drive with the help of windows defragmentation tool. If you are executing the process for the first time it may take some time. You can start the process by going to the start menu>programs>accessories>>system tools< and by choosing "Disk Defragmenter".
Random Access Memory (RAM) issues – You should free some space in RAM. To do this you can replace your animated background with a static one or you may deactivate some enhancements of windows. To do this you need to go to the control panel>system>advanced and then under performance> setting and then deactivate some options. You can also choose a lower color setting in the video options by right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties. If all your efforts go in vain you may buy some RAM space, which is available in the market at a very cheap rate.
Issues related to Virtual Memory – Virtual memory is basically used by windows kernel (the operating system) or/and multimedia programs like video editors or converters, audio and other demanding programs or applications. As you will not have sufficient memory ever to load all that you want into the RAM, windows will make a new space which can be used in the hard drive like the physical memory so that you can play games while still running other programs in the background. It is just like the RAM but in the hard drive.
If it is set too high your PC slows, as the hard drive is much slower than the RAM. It means that the memory is 1000X+++ faster than the hard drive. So if you permit windows to use excessive virtual memory it will take a long time to load the programs you need. On the other hand if it is too slow then you are running out of memory.
You should buy more RAM to let windows to utilize a lesser amount of virtual memory or free up some space in the disk as it can be the reason why you are having low virtual memory as the windows allot this memory whenever you restart the computer. So if you have used more space in the disk before restarting windows will use the virtual memory, which is left of in the hard drive. If it is too high you can change the setting back to let the windows taking care of the virtual memory usage.
Issues related to Registry – When you view, delete cache files or uninstall programs the windows registry will store some information at the will of the application or just because the program was manually removed leaving all information stored into the registry. As a result windows have to bear all these information, which are utterly useless, and make a PC slower than the normal.
To solve this problem and speed up PC you can manually edit the registry. But you have to be careful while editing. If you accidentally delete a legitimate file the entire system may get freeze.
Issues related to file Corruption– files usually get corrupted if the computer is not shut down appropriately. The other reasons, which can be responsible for file corruption, are over heating of hard disk drive (HDD), if the computer is over locked or if the acoustic setting is very high and required to be changed.
To solve the corruption issue you need to right click on the primary drive which i.e. C drive and then click on properties> tools and then click on the check now in the error checking part and answer "yes" to all the queries and then restart. If your problem does not get solved then you might have a "Bad Block" which is a physical damage in the drive. In that case you need to replace it as soon as possible.
If the hard disk drive is over heated and you have more than one hard disk drive you should leave a space between each of them. Otherwise you may have to buy a heat pipe cooler from a good computer store.
Over heating of Central Processing Unit (CPU) – If the processor gets over heated you should clean the heat sink and if possible you should clean the fan too. If the process fails to solve the matter you should change it.
Issues related to Internet connection – There are a number of Internet related issues, which can make a PC slower than the normal such as:
1. ISP problem
2. Windows setting like Receive Window and MTU
3. Line quality problem
4. The programs, which are running
5. Hijacker problem
6. Firewall issue
7. Router issue
Partitioning problem – According to the Parallel ATA or UATA architecture a 250 GB hard drive should be divided into 2 parts and according to the SATA (Serial ATA) architecture a 500 GB hard drive should be partitioned into minimum 2 parts. It is because when a 500 GB SATA or a 250 GB ATA hard drive becomes half full the head inside the hard disk drive has to search through the entire 500 or 250 GB of data. But if it is partitioned into 2 sectioned the heads have to search through only half the disk.
You can partition the hard drive with the help of a program named "Partition Magic". But before running the process you should back up all your necessary data because once the partitioning process will get over you will lose all the data automatically.
Apart from the causes mentioned above there are a number of other issues, which can make your computer slow. These are if the Norton Antivirus is installed or you have a Trojan / Malware / Spyware / Adware / Virus using resources and many more.
As a conclusion, you should know the exact problem that makes your computer slow down to know the right solution for it in order not to face this problem again.
